Lymphoma

Lymphoma is a malignant tumor or cancer of the lymphatic system. The lymphatic system is responsible for fighting infections and is an important part of the body's immune system. The lymphatic system consists of lymph, lymph nodes, lymph vessels, spleen, bone marrow, and liver.

Lymphatic fluid is the fluid in the lymphatic system that carries lymphocytes that fight microbes or pathogens that invade the body. Lymphocytes accumulate in the lymph nodes, where they fight against microorganisms. To reach a part of the body, the lymph passes through the system's lymphatic vessels or channels, called lymphatic vessels.
Once the pathogen is filtered and destroyed, the lymph is now transferred to the spleen, which is the blood cell, the dead lymphocytes, and the place where the pathogen is stored.

Dead cells are now taken to the liver to break down, and byproducts are excreted through the kidneys or large intestine. Bone marrow is involved in the lymphatic system as a region where lymphocytes are produced.

Lymphomas start in lymphocytes, especially B cells or T cells.




There are mainly two types of lymphoma

Hodgkin's & non-Hodgkin's lymphoma.
The main difference between the two is that in Hodgkin's lymphoma, Reed-Sternberg cells are present inside the malignant lymphocytes. It is unclear how and why malignant tumors occur in lymphoma, but mutations in lymphocytes are thought to be associated with low immune function, such as the presence of viral infections (such as HIV / AIDS, Epstein-Barr virus), and immune use. -Suppressive drugs and radiation therapy during cancer treatment.
